I have taken off a good month after the busy holiday season and am just getting back into the routine of working again. Kids are all back in school, life has settled down a bit and the glow of the Holiday season has passed. As I was looking through the pictures I have taken this passed year I was struck by a few beautiful things. I would call them the simple Life Lessons I have learned from all of you as we have spent time together! Thank you to my wonderful, amazing clients, family and friends who have let me follow them around with my camera. I am looking forward to all 2010 has to offer this year and pray your cup will be filled to overflowing with all of God’s blessings!

Have you ever heard the saying that a cobblers kids have no shoes? Well, I have to admit that I have been pretty bad about not getting my very own Christmas cards out until after the New Year. I take pictures of my kids all year long. All the time, really. It is pretty bad! But to set aside time and do an actual Family session for my own kids?? Not so good at that! This year I really wanted to be better. My kids are growing up so fast and I don’t want to miss any of it! I actually had a plan. Set a date, went shopping for coordinating outfits that everyone would agree on.

Looking back I had to laugh…shopping for three kids, different genders, ages and sizes is much harder than it looks! But we did it. I feel your pain for all of you who have ever asked the dreaded “What do we wear??” question. So here are some of my favorite shots from our afternoon out. And yes, my cards actually made it out this year in time for Christmas

Meet sweet Sienna. Last month I did Katy’s maternity session out at their home. I recently went back to meet the lovely and very tiny baby Sienna. I really enjoyed meeting this family and I have a feeling you will be seeing more of them in the future!

So here you go. A few of my favorites from our time together. Keith and Katy, it was so much fun to meet your sweet family! Have a wonderful Christmas with the girls!

I have loved spending time with each and every family I have photographed this season! It is fun to watch the tangible loosening up of kids during our time together. Ben, Parker and JoJo were the perfect example of this. By the time we were done they were giggling and having a great time, completely forgetting about the camera. Kim, thanks so much for letting me come hang out with your sweet kids! Enjoy your sneak peak and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Jacks Day Out {Phoenix Child and Family Photographer}

Question: How do you get a vibrant, curious, energetic 2 year old boy to sit still, look at the camera and smile??

Answer: You don’t! You give in to their amazing desire to explore every nook and cranny of their environment. You put on you running shoes, get down on the floor with them and see the world through their eyes. Or at least that is what we did with Jack. Last year when we met, Jack was 1 year old and crawling. We could put him down on the ground and have at least a few seconds to snap a few shots before he was off again. Not so much this year! He is all 2 year old boy! We chased, we smelled flowers, we played with falling leaves. His beautiful mom, Sarah did a great job of letting him be and just played along with him! Sarah…thanks for coming back for pictures this year! There are lots more great shots to come. Here are just a few from our very fun session…..

I love when families let go of having to “Smile” and look at the camera and just give in to playing together. I loved the connection this family has together. Meet lovely Pam and her very handsome family. Pam really wanted to do her session out at Pinnacle Peak so we met just before sunset and had a great time. We started up on the mountain and ended at Pinnacle Peak Patio. Too much fun! It was a gorgeous day and we could not have asked for better light. I had a blast hanging out with you, Pam! Tanner and Tate did great. Cassie, too Enjoy your sneak peak. More to come soon…

I loved the fun, rustic setting of Pinnacle Peak Patio. It was such a fun contrast to the sharp colors and great style this family was dressed in!

Cali, Tomi and Shae- 4 Week old Triplets {Phoenix Newborn, Child and Family Photographer}

Last week I had a session with three very adorable, very tiny little girls! Meet Cali, Tomi and Shae. We planned the session on the day they turned 4 weeks old. I have never photographed triplets before and it was a complete joy! Birth weights for these little ones were 6 1/2 lbs, 5 1/2lbs and 4 3/4 lbs. Can you imagine?? Tomi and Shea are identical, down to their adorable ears! Shea is the smallest and was the most alert during our time together. Cali, little dreamer that she is, slept the entire time through. Wow, what an amazing gift! Arielle, hats off to the wonderful job you are doing with these newest little ones and fifteen month old big brother Christian!
