I have taken off a good month after the busy holiday season and am just getting back into the routine of working again. Kids are all back in school, life has settled down a bit and the glow of the Holiday season has passed. As I was looking through the pictures I have taken this passed year I was struck by a few beautiful things. I would call them the simple Life Lessons I have learned from all of you as we have spent time together! Thank you to my wonderful, amazing clients, family and friends who have let me follow them around with my camera. I am looking forward to all 2010 has to offer this year and pray your cup will be filled to overflowing with all of God’s blessings!

Have you ever heard the saying that a cobblers kids have no shoes? Well, I have to admit that I have been pretty bad about not getting my very own Christmas cards out until after the New Year. I take pictures of my kids all year long. All the time, really. It is pretty bad! But to set aside time and do an actual Family session for my own kids?? Not so good at that! This year I really wanted to be better. My kids are growing up so fast and I don’t want to miss any of it! I actually had a plan. Set a date, went shopping for coordinating outfits that everyone would agree on.

Looking back I had to laugh…shopping for three kids, different genders, ages and sizes is much harder than it looks! But we did it. I feel your pain for all of you who have ever asked the dreaded “What do we wear??” question. So here are some of my favorite shots from our afternoon out. And yes, my cards actually made it out this year in time for Christmas

I love to shop. Really and truly. I love a good day of retail therapy just as much as the next girl. Getting up at dawn, fighting lines of “get out of my way I must have it now” crazy people?? I love when families let go of having to “Smile” and look at the camera and just give in to playing together. I loved the connection this family has together. Pam and the boys {Phoenix Child and Family Photographer}

Meet lovely Pam and her very handsome family. Pam really wanted to do her session out at Pinnacle Peak so we met just before sunset and had a great time. We started up on the mountain and ended at Pinnacle Peak Patio. Too much fun! It was a gorgeous day and we could not have asked for better light. I had a blast hanging out with you, Pam! Tanner and Tate did great. Cassie, too Enjoy your sneak peak. More to come soon…

I loved the fun, rustic setting of Pinnacle Peak Patio. It was such a fun contrast to the sharp colors and great style this family was dressed in!

Mini Session Q&A {Phoenix Child and Family Photographer}

First of all, I am so touched by the very positive response to the Holiday Mini Sessions! I am down to just a handful of open spots left. I most likely will open up a few more weekday spots, so if that is an option for you let me know. I have received a few questions about the Holiday Cards and I thought it might be easier to post the answers here for everyone to read. If I have left anything out, please let me know and I’ll be happy to get back to you!

What size are the cards? Are there any in 4×8?
1 cards design is done as a 5×5 TriFold, the rest are 5×7. I am not offering any 4×8 cards. I think the larger cards showcase your photos so much better! It gives me a great deal more flexibility in working with your pictures.

Is extra postage needed?
The envelopes for the 5×7 cards are considered a standard size and do not require any additional postage. The 5×5 cards, on the other hand, require hand sorting. The current postage to mail a square envelope is .64 cents. You can verify the current rate on the USPS website http://postcalc.usps.gov/

How long will it take to get the Holiday cards and pictures back?
Turn around is fairly quick for the mini session pictures. It’s a good idea to view the Holiday card gallery before your session. At the time of your session you can look at actual card samples and pick out 2 designs that you like. From there, it will take me about 1 week to get your proof gallery online. The gallery will include your images from your session as well as proofs for your cards. Once you let me know which one you prefer I send it off to my print lab. They usually have the cards back to me in 5-7 days.

Can I add a favorite saying or verse to the cards? Do you allow any changes?
You can change the saying on any card if space allows. Design elements on the cards cannot be changed. For example, a Snowman cannot be changed to a Santa. However Merry Christmas can be changed to Holiday Blessings, Happy Hanukkah or Happy New Years!

What if I can’t decide on one design or need more than 25 cards?
The mini sessions come with 25 Flat Press Printed cards. Cards come in sets of 25, but you can order as many sets you’d like. Mix up a design or two, have some fun with them! Each additional set of 25 cards is $75.00. You also have the option of ordering Folded cards as well for an addition fee of $20.00. Folded cards give you the option of adding in more pictures and a longer message if you desire. Each additional set of Folded cards can be purchased for $95.00.

I am in LOVE. Seriously. Head over heels in love with this little boy! We had an absolute dream session on Saturday. This little guy was all giggles and smiles, chubby cheeks and little boy go, go, GO! I am sneaking out of town in just a little bit, but could not leave with at least posting one or two from our session. Sarah and Ryan, thank you so much for letting me come play with you! Here is a sneak peak of our time together. Lots more to come. Enjoy!

Seriously, I don’t know why I love this picture so much. I just “do”. It cracks me up…one second they are right in front of you, the next you get nothing but toes as they boogey on by!

Custom Card Designs {Phoenix Child and Family Photography}

In just a few days we will be in October! Where oh where does the time go? It seems like the year has gone by so quickly. All three of my kids have been been reminding me that we are just three months away from Christmas. Oh. My. Gosh! So, since I know we are all planning ahead for the Holiday season (HA!) I thought it would be fun to post some card designs that I am offering this year. I heard from several of my clients last year that they would love more choices in how many pictures can be included with each card. Well, I aim to please! This year there are several cards that have different layout options. Here are just a few. I will post more as we get closer to Mini Session dates. Cheers!

Holiday Mini-Sessions are here!

I am thrilled to announce the return of last year’s very popular holiday mini-sessions! These limited-availability sessions will be offered on three Saturdays during November. Mini-sessions are perfect for updating family or milestone photographs just in time for the Holidays. These sessions will fill up very quickly. Contact me soon to reserve your time!

Your Mini-Session fee of $225 includes:
- 30-45 min. shooting time, including a mix of traditional Family settings and candid shots.

- 8-10 Final, edited images in a private online viewing Gallery

- 25 beautiful press-printed custom Holiday/New Year’s cards*

- $50 Credit toward any Print/Product Purchases
