Priscilla {Phoenix Senior High School Portraits}

There are few things that make me as happy as when someone I know and love says those sweet words…”We need to book you for…” This time it was for Priscilla’s High School Senior Portraits. I first met Priscilla 5 years ago helping out iver the summer in our church’s VBS program. She has given her time and talent time in so many ways. She was my co-counselor two summers ago up at Camp, and I have that absolute pleasure of having her hang out with me again this year! It is amazing how quickly 5 years passes. Since then I have watched her grow into such a lovely, confident and talented young lady! And now she is months away from heading off to college. Sigh. Priscilla, I am so grateful for you! Thank you for letting me into your world, trusting me with our coffee talks, late night camp talks and for the times you have loved my kids so well! I am so proud of you and can’t wait to see what God has in store for you.

Alexys {Phoenix High School Senior Portraits}

Saturday afternoon I spent hanging out downtown Phoenix with High School senior Alexys and her Grandmother, Andrea. Alexys was one of the winners of the Senior portrait give a ways I did before Christmas. She is a senior at Ironwood High School and was great fun to work with! Not only is she beautiful and very photogenic but incredibly down to earth with a great personality. Best of luck to you, Lex! Here is a sneak peak at a few images from your session. Enjoy!

I really wanted to make sure we got a couple good shots of Alexys’ tattoo. It was done in memory of her mother and I know it was important to Lex as well…

Here are some more shots taken during the Create Better Images workshop Saturday. These are all from the Bride and Groom model shoot. I have to admit, this was my favorite part of the day! Since I normally don’t focus on wedding photography I don’t often get to photograph the interaction between a bride and groom. These two were just great to work with, and we really got to play with different posing and lighting situations. Here are my favorites from the afternoon. Love, love, LOVED this couple!! Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the Create Better Images Workshop. I had such an amazing time and came home so inspired! Part of our day was spent strolling through the back streets of downtown Mesa, working with models. I can’t say enough good about the workshop! Both Kim and Jen are so generous in their sharing of knowledge and creativity. Plus the added bonus of working along side the other very talented photographers that also attended the workshop. Life Lessons from 2009 {Phoenix Family and Child Lifestyle Photography}

I have taken off a good month after the busy holiday season and am just getting back into the routine of working again. Kids are all back in school, life has settled down a bit and the glow of the Holiday season has passed. As I was looking through the pictures I have taken this passed year I was struck by a few beautiful things. I would call them the simple Life Lessons I have learned from all of you as we have spent time together! Thank you to my wonderful, amazing clients, family and friends who have let me follow them around with my camera. I am looking forward to all 2010 has to offer this year and pray your cup will be filled to overflowing with all of God’s blessings!

Paying it Forward…win a Complete High School Senior Portrait Session!

I am finishing up the busy-ness of my Holiday Portrait Season and I have felt so blessed by my wonderful clients this year! In this season of giving and in this year when so many people are hurting financially, I feel so fortunate to have a job I love and that lets me pay the bills by using my creativity. I know that hiring a professional Photographer is a huge investment and it is not in every ones reach to do so. I am so grateful to all of you who have included me as a part of your season this year!

I also know that the High School Senior portrait season is upon us! I would love to pay the blessings forward by gifting a deserving Teen a Full Senior Session including all High Resolution Images on a disk. There are a ton of amazing teens out there who are achieving great things, serving others and going beyond what is expected. Maybe they are just a really great student who is going through some tough times in their family. Perhaps they have overcome hard circumstances and are making a difference just through their positive attitude. I want to give one of those deserving Teens a free portrait session!

I want to hear all about them! Tell me about the truly amazing High School Senior who deserves to win a free portrait session! Tell me (in a few paragraphs please!) why this Teen is so wonderful and most importantly, deserving of a free portrait session. Me and my trusty nominations committee (READ: Me, my husband, my mom and a good friend!) will pick one lucky winner based on the entries. And yes, you can nominate yourself!

The What:
The winner must live here in the Phoenix metro area. Portrait session will take place between Feb 1 – March 30. 2010
The winning HS Senior will receive a 2 hour Portrait Session at a location here in the Phoenix metro area and the entire disc of all the final, edited images (usually 25-30 per session). There is no obligation to purchase anything! Wahoo!

The Who:
Nominate a teen in your life and email me as to why he/she is so wonderful and deserving of a free session. (and remember, you can nominate yourself!)
I must receive all emailed entries by Midnight PST Saturday, December 19, 2009. The Winner will be announced by Noon PST here on this blog and on my Facebook page on Monday, December 21st….just in time to make this a great Holiday Gift!

The How:
Send emails to sandi@sandishipleyphotography.com. Email me your entry by the deadline. Include your own full name and contact information. Also include the name of the teen you are nominating, how you know them, and why they are so deserving. If you want to include a small picture of the person you are nominating you may but it is not required! The winning entry will be emailed to make arrangements for contacting the winner. Tell a friend!

The Fine Print:
Emails MUST be received before the deadline. Entries received after Midnight on Saturday December 19th will not be considered. Winning Teen must either live here in the Phoenix metro area or be able to get here and session must be completed in February or March of 2010. Dates will be scheduled according to photographers availability during those months.

Jacks Day Out {Phoenix Child and Family Photographer}

Question: How do you get a vibrant, curious, energetic 2 year old boy to sit still, look at the camera and smile??

Answer: You don’t! You give in to their amazing desire to explore every nook and cranny of their environment. You put on you running shoes, get down on the floor with them and see the world through their eyes. Or at least that is what we did with Jack. Last year when we met, Jack was 1 year old and crawling. We could put him down on the ground and have at least a few seconds to snap a few shots before he was off again. Not so much this year! He is all 2 year old boy! We chased, we smelled flowers, we played with falling leaves. His beautiful mom, Sarah did a great job of letting him be and just played along with him! Sarah…thanks for coming back for pictures this year! There are lots more great shots to come. Here are just a few from our very fun session…..

Happiness is a sleeping baby, a wonderful mom and a beautiful day for pictures! Meet sweet Ella Jane. Isn’t she just the sweetest little one? I absolutely love her coloring. Wait ’till you see her eyes…so blue! I have lots more from this session to come but wanted to post a sneak peak for Mom and Dad, who I know were just as excited about these pictures! Natalie & Jake { Phoenix Lifestyle Photography}

Wow, these two have an amazing story. They have known each other since they were three, hanging out in the sand box together! They have been together for almost 10 years, married for 5. We got together for a session that seemed to really celebrate the good things in their life right now. I loved hearing their story. Interesting things came up in our conversation. Things like Natalie entered college at 16. Oh, and Natalie had a brain tumor that was successfully removed some time ago. She was in town for a baby shower for a good friend and also had a follow up Dr.’s appointment. It was great fun spending the morning with them! Here are some of my favorites (and there were many!!) from our session.

These two are a very sweeet, very affectionate couple!
