Okay, it is way past noon and I am late getting this posted! I have been knocked out with a cold today (Oh, the irony!) but I wanted to let you know who the winner is before the day got away. If my head were not filled with cotton balls I would write a nice long post about the winner. Argh. So, with out further delay…Drum roll please….

Congratulations, Andrea Amuso! I know, I know. You wrote me to nominate your grandson Tyler. But that’s the fun of having your own blog, you get to bend the rules a little bit when needed. Andrea, I have watched the way you have loved your grand kids, how you lift them both up and do all you can to provide for them. I have seen the way you help others and I wanted to honor you for all you do. Thank you for writing in to tell me about Tyler. The Gift of…Yumminess!

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a lovely time browsing for a trinket or two last week. Today I wanted to share with you two of my favorite local establishments to shop. Both are fairly new business here in Phoenix, both serve treats and are great places to pick up a little something special for just about anyone on your list!

The first I would consider my favorite “Candy” Store. Although they don’t really sell candy. They sell Teas. Hundreds of loose leaf, delicious smelling, wonderful tasting Teas. Take a look inside Fleur de Teas…

Cozy welcoming tables and chairs, holiday decorations, Tea and treat samples…I just love this place! Rows and rows of exotic, soothing, yummy Teas. Under every bag is a little jar with a small amount of tea so you can see, touch and smell before you buy. How clever is that?!

Not to mention all the fun Tea related accessories you can buy from mugs to diffusers, hand poured Candles and even a line of luxury Bath products that smell heavenly!

And to top it all of, the owner Holly, is one of the nicest most knowledgeable people you could meet. She will gladly answer any questions and tell you all you want to know about a particular tea, or suggest one to your liking. My favorites are White Cloud, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Creme Brulle. So stop on by and buy some Tea or a Gift basket! Fleur de Teas is located at 5812 N 16th St. in Phoenix AZ. They are on the Southwest corner of 16th Street & Bethany Home Rd between the Phoenix City Grille & Salon Kismet. Find them online and like them on Facebook, too!

Continuing on our tour of Yumminess…do you know about Smeeks?? If you don’t, you should! Smeeks is a darling little one stop shop for all things sweet. I jokingly refer to Fleur de Teas as my favorite “candy store”, but Smeeks is my kids favorite, hands down!! I know they are dreaming of one or two of these treats in their stockings this year…

Smeeks also sells a nice assortment of sugar free and vegan candy as well as fun retro candy and candy from Asia and Canada. Besides the treats, you can pick up a fun gifts for all ages. They have some pretty unique items you won’t find any where else, guaranteed to put a huge smile on the face of the recipient. Plus, gotta love the little gnome!

So come, be a kid in a candy store, for real Indulge your sweet tooth and discover one of Phoenix’s best kept secrets. Smeeks is located at 14 W. Camelback Road in Phoenix, AZ. You will love them in person but you can also Like them on Facebook!!

Alas, our treat fest is over for the day. Just in time to head out and do some shopping for stocking stuffers! Hmmm, three guesses where you will be able to find me this weekend…

Kaitlyn {Phoenix High School Senior Portrait Photography}

Meet Kaitlyn, my final High School Senior of the 2010 Season. And what a fun session to end with this year! I loved meeting Kaitlyn and had a great time shooting her Senior Portraits. In her pre-session questionnaire, Kaitlyn’s mom wrote “I want her to remember the smell and presence of Jesus swirling through and around the pain. I want themes that are part of our family like authenticity and justice and fierce love to be “keepers”. I want her to be released into this next season with a sense of having been blessed as a woman. I want her to remember that she is beautiful.” Wow. Loved that! I so hope it is true for them post-session as well. Kaitlyn you are beautiful! And so full of light and creativity. You made my job so easy with how open you were to everything I wanted to try! Priscilla {Phoenix Senior High School Portraits}

There are few things that make me as happy as when someone I know and love says those sweet words…”We need to book you for…” This time it was for Priscilla’s High School Senior Portraits. I first met Priscilla 5 years ago helping out iver the summer in our church’s VBS program. She has given her time and talent time in so many ways. She was my co-counselor two summers ago up at Camp, and I have that absolute pleasure of having her hang out with me again this year! It is amazing how quickly 5 years passes. Since then I have watched her grow into such a lovely, confident and talented young lady! And now she is months away from heading off to college. Sigh. Priscilla, I am so grateful for you! Thank you for letting me into your world, trusting me with our coffee talks, late night camp talks and for the times you have loved my kids so well! I am so proud of you and can’t wait to see what God has in store for you.

Happy Birthday Lu! {Phoenix Family and Child Lifestyle Photography}

On Monday my sweet, rambunctious, fun little girl turned 5 years old. Sigh. It feels like just yesterday we were driving her home from the birth center in her too-big newborn outfit. Now she is zipping around the neighborhood on her two wheeler bike, kicking up dust and takin’ names. I can’t imagine what life would be without this little girl. She has been such a huge blessing to me and our family! She is such a fun mix of sass and sweetness. She makes my laugh, drives me crazy on occasion and just plain makes life so much more fun when I see things through her eyes. So happy birthday, sweet girl!
